Could you help to make the Melksham community area a cleaner place to live?
Local volunteers are being sought to help ‘Clean for the Queen’ next month and help make their community look as good as possible.
A series of litter picks will take place across the Melksham community area on the weekend of 4th, 5th and 6th March, which will target badly affected areas and volunteers are being encouraged to help the local efforts. The events are in association with ‘Clean for the Queen,’ a national campaign to clear up Britain in time for the Queen’s 90th birthday, which will be officially celebrated in June.
Local town and parish councils, housing associations and resident and community groups are coordinating events in Broughton Gifford, Bowerhill, Canberra Centre grounds, Queensway and Melksham town – exact locations will be confirmed later.
Chairman of Melksham Area Board, Jonathon Seed said, “There is a fantastic community spirit in the Melksham community area and I’m sure many people will want to get involved and do their bit. We’re really pleased with the response so far.
“Hopefully this campaign will also encourage people to take great pride in where they live and that once we’ve cleaned up the local areas, they will stay that way.”
If anyone would like to suggest an area that they think would benefit from a litter pick, would like to organise their own event or would simply like to volunteer to help out, then they should get in touch with Rhys Schell, Melksham community engagement Manager on 01225 716752 or rhys.schell@wiltshire.gov.uk
Wiltshire Council is able to provide the litter picking equipment and there is support and information available online at
