AFTER a record number 354 appearances and 266 goals, Melksham Town FC’s top striker, Gary Higdon, has announced his departure from the club.
Gary has decided to take a break from football to spend time with his family.
Paying tribute, manager Kieran Baggs said, “As disappointed as I am with losing Gary, I understand his reasons and hope he enjoys his time away from football. He’s been another level for me since I’ve taken over and you only have to look at last season to see how much he will be missed.
“The commitment levels required at Southern League level can take its toll on people and we need to understand this and give Gary the recognition he deserves for what he’s done for this club.”
Chairman Darren Perrin, added, “Gary will go down in the club’s history as one of the Melksham greats and his goal-scoring record will be there for everyone to see for years to come.
“He has won multiple honours whilst at Melksham – most recently his promotion last season and his record-breaking goals tally. Thank you for everything Gary, and you are always welcome to the InfiLED Arena.”
