ALOERIC Primary School students have produced a piece of artwork to celebrate reconnecting after lockdown.
Organised by local artist Laura Richards, who runs the after school art club, the project titled ‘High Fives all round’, helped children to celebrate coming back together, in a creative and fun way. Laura explains, “Physical interaction has been greatly missed and creativity has become a big part of life. I wanted to incorporate both in a way that would be enjoyable and reconnect peers.
“The project allowed them to design their own handprint using a range of different materials and colours. Inclusive of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with the support of Heather Mackenzie, reception teacher and head of art, over 100 pupils took part and had complete creative freedom. Put together to make one collective piece of art, I wanted the children to have a positive reminder of this time, and feel proud of themselves and each other, as part of the school community.”
