RESIDENTS of Holt are being encouraged to have their say on whether they accept the parish council’s vision for the future of the village at a referendum on November 24th.
The Holt Neighbourhood Plan outlines parish council’s vision for how the village should be developed over the next ten years.
After several years of consultation with the village and the wider community, the final plan was sent to every household in the village outlining the council’s vision for the future.
The question which will be asked in the Referendum is, ‘Do you want Wiltshire Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Holt to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’
Chair of Holt Parish Council, Becky Stevens said, “[The Neighbourhood Plan] has been shaped and improved through extensive consultation, both formal and informal, and been subject to rigorous public scrutiny.
“We have a strong document which the Steering Group and Parish Council believe represents the wishes and aspirations of the village for the future.
“The referendum date, set by Wiltshire Council, is 24th November and normal arrangements for polling will apply. The outcome is decided by a simple majority of those who vote and the Plan has to be adopted (or rejected) in its entirety. If it is endorsed in the referendum, it will come into force and form part of the statutory Development Plan for the area.
“We would, once again, like to thank everyone in the village who has contributed to the development of the Plan over the years and to urge as many people as possible to vote on the 24th.”
