MELKSHAM’S Mr Christmas has vowed to ‘eat his hat’ if England fail to win this year’s World Cup competition – but what the hat is made of remains to be seen, as he is on the hunt for someone to make it for him.
Local man Andy Park, who celebrates Christmas every day of the year, said, “I am so confident that England will win this year, I am sure that it won’t happen – I won’t have to eat my hat. However, a promise is a promise, so if the worst does happen I want to have a hat ready to eat.
“I’m not sure what the hat could be made of; maybe mince pies, turkey? That’s up to the person who makes it, but it has to be tasty! So if anyone would like to make the hat for me, please get in touch.”
Proving that it’s not just Christmas that he goes mad for, Mr Christmas has also shown his love for the England football team with his very own World Cup song, ‘We’re going to win the World Cup’.
“I’m feeling quite proud about the song,” he said, “it was played in Russia last week. I’ve also had interest from radio stations like Talk Radio, BBC Bristol, BBC Somerset; Fantasy Radio and BBC Radio Two!
“There is no official song for England this year, so I really hope that my song could be chosen to represent the country. That would be amazing!”
