PLANNING permission has been granted for additional pitches on the Lansdowne/Littleton traveller site, by appeal.
Mr Rooney, who owns the Lansdowne/Littleton gypsy and traveller site has won his appeal to extend the pitches at the site from five to seven.
Semington Parish Council strongly opposed the first application but at a meeting held in September, the parish council had no objections to the amended development proposals.
One local resident expressed their objections in writing to the council. They said, “The law is the law for all people, yet travellers seem to be able to break our laws.
“The access is on a very busy road, the A361, anyone else trying to purchase this piece of land would never have had permission to build. We strongly object to the proposed planning application.”
Wiltshire Council refused Mr Rooney’s original application to increase the pitches to 12 earlier this year; however, the planning inspector overruled the decision and planning permission was granted subject to conditions. The application can be read on Wiltshire Council’s website by using the following application number 15/08789/ FUL.
