HUNDREDS of people cheered on competitors at Wiltshire Air Ambulance’s newest fund-raising event, It’s A Knockout.
Based on the famous TV show of the same name, teams took part in eight games – each with their own unique twist, including props, costumes and inflatables – prompting plenty of laughter and entertainment for competitors and spectators alike.
Representing Melksham at the event, held at Melksham Rugby and Football Club, were teams from Forest Fitness, Melksham Rugby Club, Melksham Ladies’ Rugby, Merlin Security, Bowerhill pub, The Pilot, On the Block training, and a team led by local MP, Michelle Donelan.
Winners of the event were Stonewood, a team from an architectural practice in Corsham; second place were Ruck N Rollers; third were Andy’s Army; with the wooden spoon going to Knockout Knockers.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Air Ambulance said, “It was a great day – with over 300 people in attendance. We’re still counting up the fundraising tally!”
The event was organised to raise money for the local charity, which needs to raise £4million a year to continue saving lives, the equivalent of around £11,000 day. The charity receives no regular direct Government funding or National Lottery grants, so relies solely on the generosity of the public and local businesses.
