It’s Panto Time with Melksham Music and Drama presenting ‘Trouble in Pantoland’ at the Rachel Fowler Centre, 19th-21st and 27th and 28th February.
“There’s big trouble in Panto Land!,” reports Donna Ruderman on behalf of MMAD. “The wicked wizard has turned all the princes into statues in a bid to become king of Pantoland. Who will save the day? A frog? Surely not, but wait this is no ordinary frog; it’s a frog that’s waiting to be kissed and turned back into a handsome prince.
“He loves Amelia who runs a school for under privileged elves (sort of an Elf Service!) but she doesn’t know he’s a prince, she loves the frog! Bert loves Amelia but she doesn’t know. Widow Twanky has crystal balls (we’ll say no more!) Ghosts that sing and tell jokes and Old Crones who drink a lot of tea and prefer to be called Wise Women. All this adds up to a very funny show.
“Trouble in Panto Land is a brilliant mix of all well known panto characters. There are princes and princesses, a wicked wizard and evil queen and our hero, Rupert the frog prince. Our dame is Widow Twanky played by John Clark who has been performing with the club for over 25 years and puts his own unique twist on this comic role. Our hapless hero, Bert, is the clumsiest shop assistant ever.
“All cast are well known nursery rhyme characters. Add some well known songs and choreography by Katie Mence, this show has the perfect ingredients for a fun time for all the family.”
