Fancy doing some singing? It’s that time of year when we start thinking ‘maybe I should do that thing I’ve been meaning to do for so long’….and maybe that thing is to sing with other people!
“In which case you’re in luck because in Melksham we have our very own community choir, Macapello! A community choir means; no auditions; everyone is welcome regardless of age, experience or ability; no need to learn from music – everything is taught by ear! and the emphasis is very much on fun and fulfilment – you’ll be made very welcome from the outset.
“No previous singing experience is necessary and the songs are easy to learn and great to sing and before long you’ll be singing in glorious four-part harmony – really uplifting, and tremendously good for you!
Choir member, Mary says, “Macapello is great fun; as well as singing all kinds of brilliant songs, we have a lot of laughs and I’ve made several new friends through the choir. Singing is really empowering and inspiring, it’s definitely worth coming and having a go.”
“Macapello, now in its seventh year in Melksham, has around 25 regular members, men and women, with new members always welcome, singing acappella (unaccompanied), in harmony. We sing all kinds of uplifting and wonderful songs from all round the world and from many traditions as well as well-known classic hits, under the experienced guidance of choirleaders Dave and Liza.
“Macapello give three or four performances every year, raising money for charity, singing for the residents of local care homes, giving carol concerts and singing at public functions. We meet every Wednesday evening in termtime.”
