With just one month to go until The White Horse Walk, Rocking Horse Nursery in Melksham and Rygor Commercials of Westbury are finalising plans for a day of fresh-air fun.
They say, “On Saturday 21st September, groups of families, friends and colleagues will be walking, running or ambling their way around a 13-mile circular route in order to raise money for the life-saving Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
“In previous years the route was a much tougher 52-mile affair (almost two marathons!) and was completed over a weekend. This year however, the organisers wanted to put on an all-new event which would appeal to more people who want to help keep the Wiltshire Air Ambulance flying.
“The walk will start at Blackland Lakes near Calne and will encompass the White Horses at Cherhill and Devizes as well as some truly stunning scenery. The trek will conclude with a celebratory barbecue provided by the Rapid Relief Team, a global charity that provides care and compassion to those in need. All services will be provided on a no-fee basis so that Wiltshire Air Ambulance receives the maximum donation possible.
“Wiltshire Air Ambulance provides a vital service to the people of Wiltshire (and surrounding areas) but receives no government funding and relies on public support to save lives.”
Clive Milner from Rocking Horse Nursery aid, “This is set to be a fantastic event and we would encourage anyone who wants to challenge themselves after the summer holidays, to take part in this scenic walk in aid of a charity which works so hard for the county and beyond. For those who are planning to sign up, the closing date for entries is Friday 13th September – so make sure you don’t forget as that would be bad luck!”
Graham Drake owner director at Rygor said,“Myself and Clive have been involved with the White Horse Challenge for the past 15 years, so it is exciting to be able to evolve the event this year. We are looking forward to welcoming lots of familiar faces to this year’s walk as well as many new ones.”
James van As from the Rapid Relief Team said, “The Rapid Relief Team (RRT) are thrilled to be supporting the White Horse Walk, which raises much-needed funds for Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The RRT will be providing quality gourmet burgers and refreshments for the participants, and these will be barbecued and served at Blackland Lakes at the end of the walk.”
Val Whistler, corporate partnership co-ordinator at Wiltshire Air Ambulance said, “We are so delighted to be working with Rygor Commercials and Rocking Horse Nursery again this year. We would like to say a huge thank you to them for working so hard to support Wiltshire Air Ambulance. This will be such a wonderful walk, through the beautiful Wiltshire countryside and it’s a fantastic way to have a great time with family and friends while raising money for a local charity.”
