THE Town faced a difficult game in Darren Perrin’s second game in charge with a visit to high flying Larkhall who had won all of their opening 5 league games.
Larkhall went ahead after the award of a harsh penalty against Dave Macey when the ref adjudged a point blank shot to have hit Macey’s arm. Although Tom Drewitt saved the initial spot kick, the rebound was tucked home to put Larkhall one up.
On 40 minutes Melksham created a good opportunity but Gary Higdon’s effort was easily saved and almost immediately Larkhall went up the other end and knocked in a second to go 2-0 ahead at the break. Early in the second period manager Darren Perrin threw on Will Stead and Josh Robinson for the injured Matt Sharp and the rapidly tiring Macey and for a period, the Town took the game to Larkhall, with Tom Robinson spurning a good opportunity on 60 minutes and both Higdon and Dan Kovacs unable to force home a rebound off the home keeper.
However Larkhall wrapped up the game on 71 minutes and went 3-0 ahead, leaving the Town still seeking their first win of the season.
