MELKSHAM and District Link, which provides vital transport for local people to medical appointments, is still operating and coping despite the difficult circumstances.
“We’re open for business but since most of our volunteer drivers are over 70 and self isolating, we are down to just two drivers,” said Dee Phesse, one of the organisers.
“Most hospital appointments we had in the diary have been cancelled by the hospitals, as they are classed as non urgent. So our remaining two drivers are coping with the small number of clients who still need us. With so few volunteers, this is all we can offer right now unfortunately but we are doing are best to help people who need us.
“Our number is 07979 129052 for urgent appointments only – i e cancer, dialysis etc.”
