Live entertainment and films at the Assembly Hall

THERE’S so much entertainment at Melksham Assembly Hall with exciting shows, live music and the latest cinema releases coming up in the next few months.

The Smyths are coming to the Assembly Hall on Saturday 18th February. The Smyths are the leading tribute band covering all the music from The Smiths. The Smyths globally renown for their tribute shows which they have performed for over 10 years. Tickets £13 in advance, £15 on the door.

Bob Drury presents… Viva Neil Diamond – celebrating 50 years of hits! on Friday 3rd March.

To celebrate Neil Diamond’s 50 year recording career, the UK’s very own ‘voice of Neil’ Bob Drury (The Neil Diamond Story) presents a brand new one-man stage show simply bursting with Neil Diamond gems! Enjoy once more all the hits including Sweet Caroline, Forever In Blue Jeans, Love on the Rocks, America, Hello Again, Play Me, Beautiful Noise, Song Sung Blue, I’m A Believer, Red Red Wine, and many, many more. Tickets are £15.

World Champion and BBC presenter Steve Parish brings his Steve Parish Mad Tour to Melksham on Sunday 5th March.

Enjoy the life and times of Steve Parrish (Stavros) which provide a completely different, colourful, humorous and, at times, daring portrayal of this man’s career. Don’t miss out on one of the most entertaining, colourful characters left in Motorsport. Tickets £20/18.50.

Then on Saturday 18th, enjoy an evening of song, laughter and legendary stories with Patsy Cline & George Hamilton V.

After the sad news that George Hamilton IV had died, his son George Hamilton V, a respected international Country artist in his own right, announced he would replace his father by singing and narrating and paying tribute to Patsy Cline and his late father in the Patsy Cline Anniversary Tour. Tickets £22.50.

Birth of a Nation (15) Friday 17th February, 7.30pm. Nate Turner is an enslaved Baptist preacher who lives on a Virginia plantation owned by Samuel Turner. With rumours of insurrection in the air, a cleric convinces Samuel that Nate should sermonise to other slaves, thereby quelling any notions of an uprising. As Nate witnesses the horrific treatment of his fellow man, he realises that he can no longer just stand by.

Finding Dory (PG) Saturday 25th February, 10.30am. Dory is a wide-eyed, blue tang fish who suffers from memory loss every 10 seconds or so. The one thing she can remember is that she somehow became separated from her parents as a child. With help from her friends Nemo and Marlin, Dory embarks on an epic adventure to find them.

Her journey brings her to the Marine Life Institute, a conservatory that houses diverse ocean species. Dory now knows that her family reunion will only happen if she can save mum and dad from captivity.

Moana (PG) Saturday 4th March, 10.30am. A sweeping, CG-animated adventure about a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to prove herself a master Wayfinder and fulfil her ancestors’ unfinished quest.

Trolls (PG) Saturday 25th March, 10.30am. Poppy, the optimistic leader of the Trolls, and her polar opposite, Branch must embark on an adventure that takes them far beyond the only world they’ve ever known.

Cinema tickets for the 10.30am performances are £3 for under 15s; £4/6 for adults. For the 7:30pm shows all tickets are £6 or two time credits. They are available on the night or in advance at Melksham Assembly Hall (01225 709887). Doors open 30 minutes before the movie.
