MELKSHAM dad, Darren Phillips is running the Edinburgh Marathon for the fourth time, to raise money and awareness for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance.
Darren is running the race on 31st May in memory of his sister Michelle Phillips who was tragically killed in a car accident in Devon in 2004, when she was aged 26.
Darren explained, “The charity means a lot to me and my family. My mum, dad and friends and family have helped raise over £13,000 for the Air Ambulance so I want to help raise a little more.
A keen runner, Darren takes part in local half marathons, but the Edinburgh Marathon is the big one for him.
“I’ve done a lot of training for this marathon, I want to beat my current PB (personal best time) which is 4hours 30 minutes,” he said.
Darren will be travelling to Scotland with his family for the race. “Everyone is coming to watch me, we’re going to make a little holiday out of it.
“The support from friends and family has been great, but also the local community have sponsored me which I really appreciate.
“There is definitely a bit of pressure building as the race gets closer, but I am really looking forward to it.”
