FIVE pupils from Wiltshire School of Gymnastics will go on to represent the South West at the National Grades after placing highly in a recent regional competition.
The South West National Grades competition, held on Sunday 12th April, saw 130 gymnasts from across the region compete for a place
Head coach Rachel Levick said, “Violet, Jasmine, Nicole, Robyn and Jessica will now go on to represent the South West at the National Finals competition in Stoke.
“The National Grades require a set of elements/skills to be put into a voluntary routine. The gymnasts competed on the usual vault, bars, beam and floor and also range and conditioning.
“They were tested on their flexibility and strength, and the top four gymnasts from each grade represent the region at the national finals.
“Nicole Parsons, aged 12 from Melksham, and Jasmine Frost, aged 12 from Winsley, competed in Grade Two. Both girls went through all their routines without any mistakes. Jasmine finished 4th and Nicole 1st, and both achieved distinctions.
“Competing in Grade 4 we had Violet Browne, from Trowbridge. Violet had an excellent competition, achieved a distinction, and finished 4th overall.
“In Grade 3 we had Holly Gaiger, from Littleton Panell. Holly went through all her routines cleanly and was highly commended.
“We had two gymnasts compete in Grade 1: Jessica Daykin (Littleton Panel) and Robyn Ellison (Trowbridge). Jessica achieved a distinction and finished 1st while Robyn was highly commended and finished 4th. Both also completed all their routines with no mistakes.”
