A MELKSHAM man will be walking from London to Brighton this month to raise money for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
Max Hardman, who runs a local environmental contracting business, will be walking 100km across the 28th and 29th May.
About why he has taken up the epic challenge, Max told Melksham News, “Amid the cabin fever that many of us will no doubt have experienced with the lockdowns of the past couple of years, a friend of mine decided that he would like to embark on a challenge when we were free to resume our normal daily lives.
“Fast forward 18 months, and an additional three friends and I are about to undertake a 100km walk from London to Brighton.
“I have always had a keen interest in the natural world and wildlife and have been lucky enough to have worked for many years in conservation. This challenge presented a good opportunity for me to try and raise funds for something that I feel passionate about, which is helping nature.
“As many of your readers will probably be aware, the natural world is experiencing some extremely challenging times. I have been fortunate enough to work with forward thinking organisations like the Wildlife Trusts in the area, and it is my hope that in doing this challenge, we can play a small part in helping to raise money, and address some of the local issues that our wildlife are facing.
“Through fundraising, if we are able to help protect local wildlife species, and local nature reserves from habitat decline, development, pollution etc, what a wonderful thing that would be.”
