LOCAL holistic fitness instructor Matt Hill was recently shortlisted for the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Public Health’ award at this year’s Wiltshire Public Health Awards, organised by Wiltshire Council.
Matt, who teaches the Russian martial art Systema in Melksham, received five nominations for the award. Nominations were given for reasons ranging from tailoring a programme to help a physical recovery from life-threatening illness, to physical work with autistic children.
Matt has also helped people suffering from M.E, depression, and work stress. Matt said, “It is wonderful to see Systema getting recognised. It never ceases to amaze me how effective this system is in restoring people to their natural healthy state. We were born to be strong, fit and healthy, and there is no reason why we shouldn’t be.
“Systema Health is an exercise system that treats you holistically. There are exercises that teach you to make improvements to your breathing, movement, relaxation levels and physical posture.
“It improves your complete system making you calmer, fitter, stronger and more resilient to life and its stresses and strains.”
Matt teaches classes across the South West, including regular sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Melksham’s Avonside Enterprise Park.
