TWO men from Melksham are set to take on their third marathon in just over a year as they head to Stockholm to complete the 26.2 mile course
Tony Couch and Liam Walker will run in the Swedish capital on Saturday 31st May having already recently completed the marathon in Amsterdam and London.
The pair have raised thousands for Dorothy House and Children with Cancer by completing the previous marathons, but will be taking on the Stockholm Marathon solely as a personal challenge.
Tony said, “We decided to do the Stockholm Marathon as we wanted to choose a different city in Europe that we haven’t already done and to give ourselves a good four or five months opportunity to train after Christmas.
“Both of us have had injuries that have interrupted our training but I think we are both hoping to beat our best times; but until you actually start the race it’s very difficult to know what your body is capable of on the day. Liam will be aiming for a sub three hour time whilst I am targetting a sub three hours 30 minutes time.
“Training has had its difficulties as I had a three-week break from training through most of April due to an Achilles strain that hopefully now with rest has healed. Liam has suffered with shin problems and an ankle injury that has meant he has restricted his training to only four days a week.”
