COUNCILLOR Terri Welch has been re-elected as the Mayor of Melksham. She will once again be joined by deputy mayor, cllr Pamela Wiltshire.
This will be cllr Welch’s fourth term as mayor, after serving in 2003, 2014 and 2015 and is pleased to be able to continue working as mayor.
“It really is an honour to serve Melksham,” she said. “It’s wonderful to be working with Pam again and I’m looking forward to the coming year.
“This year will see a lot of changes in the town. With the canal project and the Health and Wellbeing Centre, there are all sorts of things to look forward to.”
Cllr Welch has lived in Melksham for over 30 years and has been a town councilor for the Melksham Central Ward for over 20 years and represents the Liberal Democrat Party. She is the chair of the Town Team and on the Health and Wellbeing Centre Project Group.
For a second year, cllr Welch will be aided by deputy mayor, Cllr Pamela Wiltshire. Pam said, “It is an honour to serve Melksham again as deputy mayor and to support the mayor in her position.
“I have an interest in seeing how Melksham is growing – the fast growth in housing is reflecting in the shops, we are very lucky to have very few empty shops. It is good to see the large employers such as Herman Miller come to Melksham but also to see the many successful small businesses here.”
Cllr Wiltshire has been a town councillor for the Melksham North ward for ten years and represents the Conservative Party. She is chair of the Town Development Committee and the Melksham Food and Drink Festival Committee. She is also involved with the Twinning Organisation and represented the mayor on the visit to Avon this month.
