A MELKSHAM man has had his first book published at the age of 82, telling the story of his heart problems eight years ago.
John Gallagher has written ‘Beating My Heart’ to explain his experiences during his battle with a heart issue and the highs and lows of his journey to recovery.
He lives at Crown House with his wife Tessa and has had 100 copies of the book printed at his own expense, with any money made from the books going to the British Heart Foundation.
‘Beating My Heart’ which is available from the Tourist Information Centre has had positive reviews from those that have so far read the book.
One online review said, “In a chatty, informative style (Beating My Heart) provides a wealth of fascinating and helpful advice for anyone (and their partner/family) presented with similar news. John clearly and readably explains his journey with its many highs and lows, including the various options, frustrations, timescales and costs.”
John who is also a member of Avon Bowls Club said, “The idea of the book was to be informative and be useful to those going through any heart problems.
“So many people suffer with heart issues that it relates to a lot of people and i have had some people say they wish they had read the book before they went through previous health issues, as it would have been a big help.
“All the money made will be going to the British Heart Foundation so hopefully it will do well.”
The book is now available at Melksham Tourist Information Centre for £5.
