MELKSHAM Air Cadets are planning a Melksham Live! event, an afternoon of live music and entertainment to raise money for Wiltshire-based children’s charities.
To coincide with the Air Cadets’ 75th anniversary, the Melksham squadron is organising their very own mini music festival at the Bowerhill sports fields on Saturday 25th June.
Flight Lieutenant Ray Coe of Melksham Air Cadets said, “We wanted to do something a bit different to celebrate the 75th anniversary. The children knew they wanted to do something for local children’s charities but also something that would be a community event, so they came up with a music festival. We want the event to be a great thing for the whole of Melksham and bring people together whilst raising money for local children’s charities.
“We already have over 30 local bands and artistes booked, which are all fantastic. They already can’t wait for the day!
“We are aiming to raise £25,000 which will be split between five Wiltshire-based charities to spend on their services which are specifically for children.
“Tickets will cost £8 and I’ve already got over 200 names of people who want tickets. We’re expecting them to sell out fast, so I’d advise people to buy theirs as soon as possible.
“It is really important to the Melksham Air Cadets to give back to the community because we have had a lot of support in the past. They also realise how there are a lot of children who are less fortunate than themselves, so they would like to help make a difference in their lives.”
Tickets are available from Friday 29th January. Buy yours online at www.melkshamlive.co.uk or other local outlets which will be announced soon.
The Air Cadets will also be hosting open evenings running up to the event for the public to ask any questions.
