COMMUNITY groups and organisations in Melksham have recently been awarded grant funding by the Melksham Area Board to support their initiatives.
The grants were approved during Wiltshire Council’s Area Board meeting for Melksham, held this month at Semington Village Hall. The Melksham Area Board offers three types of grants: Community Area Grants (£19,824.48 available), Youth Grants (£7,366.01 available), and Older and Vulnerable People Grants (£18,349 available).
Funds from the Community Area Grant were awarded to the Saxon Group Riding for the Disabled Association, which provides therapeutic and recreational activities for adults and children. They received £358 to contribute towards a new surface topper.
Wiltshire Music Centre was granted £1,500 from the Older and Vulnerable People Grant to support the Celebrating Age Wiltshire Project, which organises cultural events aimed at enhancing the wellbeing of older people.
Local youth organisation 4Youth (South West), which supports young people from various backgrounds, was allocated a total of £10,000 from the Youth Grant. This includes £5,000 for running seniors’ youth club sessions for those in Year 9 and above and £5,000 for the TeenTalk Young People Counselling service.
