A Melksham charity has received £1,500 to help support families of children in hospital.
Evie’s Gift has been given the funds through Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme, which supports thousands of projects helping children and young people.
Evie’s Gift provides emergency financial support for accommodation and essential expenses across the UK, ensuring parents can stay close to their child without the added burden of financial stress. It was founded in memory of Evie Clover, who died aged 13 after an aggressive brain tumour. During her treatment, her parents witnessed the financial and emotional toll placed on families with critically ill children.
Charity manager Jessica Hilsdon said, “For small charities like us, grants like this allow us to be there to help every family that needs us.”
Tesco shoppers are given a blue token at the checkout to vote for a local cause, with funding awarded according to the number of tokens each project receives.
“Thank you to everyone who voted for us with their blue token; we are truly grateful,” added Jessica.
