A MELKSHAM designer has organised an art and design exhibition set to be held from next week in Trowbridge.
Kelly Hatt a surface designer, who uses innovative surfaces in design projects, has organised the exhibition which will take place at Trowbridge Town Hall from Friday 28th November until 13th December.
Local artists and designers will showcase a diverse range of work, from sculpture to illustration, painting to mixed media.
Kelly said, “On returning to the local area after studying at university I wanted to create an exhibition opportunity for other emerging artists and makers in the same situation. I was very excited to receive submissions from such amazing artists and designers and can’t wait to see the exhibition all come together.
“Contemporary South West will exhibit over three floors of the town hall’s intriguing building, including the cells, in the basement, where prisoners were held before going to court. I love the idea of exhibiting in a building with such history and a sense of exploration associated with the building and the work on display. The public is invited to view the exciting contemporary art and design from 15 artists from all over the South West.”
There is also an opportunity to meet the artists involved in the show on Saturday 6th December, 11am-3pm where you can drop in to talk to the makers about their work.
The exhibition will be open 10am-6pm, Monday to Saturday, with the opening night on Friday 28th November, 6-8pm. Entry is free. Work will be available to purchase throughout the exhibition.
