THE Melksham Gardeners’ Society (MGS) hosted a talk about ‘Unusual herbs and how to use them’ by Caroline Pakenham, on Tuesday 24th April.
Cary Hopkins, secretary reports, “Caroline gave us an animated and very informative talk all about the more unusual herbs that are out there to grow and use; we also learnt about the use of herbs in jams and jellies and were able to buy both herbs and jellies at the end. Caroline was such a good speaker that we could have stayed at least another hour or so and we were practically pushing people out the door at the end of a hugely enjoyable evening!
“Our members will be enjoying our first garden trip of the year by going to RHS Wisley on 20th May and that will be followed by the next MGS meeting which will be on Tuesday 29th May at the Rachel Fowler Centre at 7.30pm with our famous plant swap and the diabolical quiz.
Bring along plants/cuttings/seedlings/bulbs and swap for something new and then show off your prowess in plant knowledge in the quiz. We will also be having a quick talk on osteopathy and how to look after your back while gardening – no matter what age you are.
New members and guests are always welcome. Door entry is £1 for members, £2 for guests and our annual membership is £10 – tea, coffee and biscuits are also available for 50p at each meeting.”
