The Melksham Gardeners’ Society had their first trip out this year to RHS Wisley on Sunday 20th May.
They report, “We picked a fabulously hot day to go walking about the gardens, where the rhododendrons were at full blast with their flowers from arctic white to deepest red and every pink, yellow and cream in-between.
“There was a wonderful sea of alliums competing for attention and with so many different places of interest to look at, we had to take time to sit and have a well-deserved cup of tea (glass of wine) and a little something to eat and reflect on what we had seen and what was still waiting for us.
“With the glasshouses, woodland, meadows, lily pond/canal, alpine houses, the herb beds, the trial planting beds, there was so much to see and do, almost too much to mention here. It is well worth the visit and if you have to stop and have a cheeky ice cream before leaving with your haul of plants like many of us did, then you will have had as good a day as the MGS did on Sunday.
“The photo shows the MGS members just getting off the bus prior to starting our tour although we looked a bit hotter, a bit pinker and a bit more tired on our return!”
