TWO hair stylists from Melksham have returned from styling the hair of celebrities and models as part of the Clothes Show at the NEC Birmingham.
Owners of Elleness Hair in Melksham, Sophie Hellyer and Lyndsey Yarwood, styled the models’ hair including Jade Thompson who is the former winner of Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model as well as celebrities such as Amy Childs from The Only Way is Essex as part of the Clothes Show.
The event is the UK’s largest catwalk performance and is presented by celebrities with the show kickstarted by live music performances with this year Stooshe and Union J performing. The events showcase latest fashion, beauty and music trends on large and often interactive features and stands. The show is considered the premier fashion event in the UK.
Lyndsey said, “It was crazy and manic, but we loved it. The pressure to make sure everything is right is on, but you just deal with it and do the best you can. Although I found the actual styles easy, it was the rush to do it and fighting for space to style their hair. It was amazing to have the responsibility there. We were invited to the event by the show’s art team. The celebrities were all really nice and just like anyone else they enjoyed a chat. It was a long day, but very worth it. Everything that we learned there, we bring back to the salon, for our clients.”
Sophie said, “It was incredible to be a part of it. You’re always fighting over the model with the make-up artist and their clothes designer, but it is great fun. You do not have time to stop. You also get a chance to see which hair styles are new and what is trendy at the moment, which we bring back to the salon.
“Being back stage and seeing what happens was an incredible experience.”
Sophie and Lyndsey added that they would like to thank all their clients who they had to reschedule so that they could attend the event. They also wished their clients a happy New Year.
