Organisers of the Melksham Makers’ Market have been busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for their second market, which will take place this Saturday, 25th May, from 10-3pm in the Market Place.
The new market first launched last month, but was forced at the last minute to change venues to inside the Town Hall to avoid the high winds and rain of Storm Hannah.
Organisers Sarah Hillman and Nicola Coleman are this week hoping that the weather will allow them to use the Market Place to its full potential.
Sarah says, “We’re really pleased that lots of the traders from last month, including Florrie & Jean, Katy Wilkinson Jewellery, Happy Hounds Bakery, The Secret Crocheter and Sandridge Brownies & Bakes will be joining us again on Saturday with all their wonderful, handcrafted makes.”
Nicola added, “Lots of new traders got in touch after the success of last month’s market, so we are excited to welcome Vixter Woolista with her gorgeous hand dyed yarns, Floral Flames with a beautiful range of candles, and the very talented Laura from Pinkney Farm Flowers to name but a few! We can’t wait for Saturday and just hope the weather is kinder to us than last month!”
The new market is supported by Melksham Town Council and again the council is offering a spot to a local musician to perform.
Community engagement officer for the town council, Debbie Bentley said, “We would like to offer a spot each month to a different musical talent. Whether they are an established local band, solo artist, or an unknown name, we would be keen to hear from anyone who would be interested in performing at the market.
“If you, or anyone you know, would be interested please contact the town council on: 01225 704187 or via email: townhall@ melkshamtown .co.uk.”
