A MELKSHAM man is preparing to tackle the world’s most famous marathon this weekend – the London Marathon.
Nick Keen will take part in the marathon this Sunday, 28th April, taking in all the famous sights of London on the 26.2 mile course.
He will be raising money for Whizz Kidz, the national charity that aims to transform the lives of disabled children by providing the vital equipment, support and life skills they need to reach their full potential.
“I’m inspired by the work that Whizz Kidz do in enabling disabled children and young people to lead fun, active and independent lives,” said Nick. “They are a great cause and I have a target of £2,000 to raise for them.”
Nick is no stranger to running challenges – he ran in the London Marathon five years ago, and he has previously taken part in what is described as “the toughest footrace on Earth”, the Marathon des Sables expedition, running 161 miles through the Sahara.
“I’m looking forward to the marathon this weekend,” said Nick. “This year I am aiming for a time of around four hours – I think I would be pretty happy with that.”
