AFTER nine months away from the Market Place to make way for the redevelopment, the Melksham market returned to its new-look home last week.
Four stalls pitched up on the brand new plaza outside the Town Hall on Tuesday 31st October, offering fresh fish, fruit and vegetables, baked bread and garden ornaments.
Ken Langley of Ken’s Fresh Fish said, “It’s fabulous to be back on the Market Place. The new area is great and especially made for us. It’s lovely and flat!”
“The Market Place is much better now and its great to be back,” added Sean Taylor of Taylors Traditional Bakers.
Tracy Collins of V&P Collins said, “It’s lovely to be back. This is a great space and it would be good to see it used more for events for the town.”
Grant Smith of Calne Garden Ornaments said, “It’s very good and it is good to be in a location where we can be seen by the town, hopefully this will bring us more trade. They have done a nice job with the Market Place, it looks good. It would be nice to see a few more market stalls join us.”
The market is held every Tuesday. Anyone interested in having a stall at the market should contact Melksham Town Council for more information.
