MELKSHAM Oak pupils have been busy bringing in donations for Melksham Foodbank and for the charity Doorway who make shoeboxes for the homeless.

“This is now the third year that this has been running successfully in the school; it has been a hard year for many and we are pleased that pupils continued to make a difference,” said a spokesperson for the school.
“Year 12 and 13 made up the shoeboxes and we were inundated with items such as soap, hand sanitiser, toothbrushes and toothpaste so that, although we made 26 shoeboxes, we had more items than shoeboxes so that the Doorway can give throughout the next few weeks.
“The club Money Makers who fundraise throughout the school year for charity sorted out our food items, categorised into types of food and then checking dates, in order that they are within best before / use by dates.
“Miss Hyne and Mrs Jones who coordinated the event at Melksham Oak want to thank all pupils and staff this year and looking forward to running the event again next Christmas.”
