NEW building works at Melksham Oak Community School are on schedule to be completed in time for the start of the new school term this September.
This exciting development, in response to a growing demand for places, will include ten new classrooms, fitted out with the latest technology providing up to 240 new places.
Sixth form students will also benefit from a dedicated area including two science labs, a new common room, and a study room. A new cafeteria will also open offering catering for all students.
Alan Henderson, principal at Melksham Oak, said, “We are very excited about the new development and the benefits it will bring for all our students. In particular, we are looking forward to finally being able to offer our sixth form students a dedicated state of the art space for learning and socialising separate from the main school, something our students have long been waiting for.
“I am also excited about our rebrand of Sixth Form as Oak 6th, further recognising the importance of students taking the next step in their education journey.
“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everyone involved for making this happen, particularly given the challenges we have faced due to the impact of the pandemic. I am excited for what the future will bring for everyone at Melksham Oak and Oak 6th.”
Melksham Oak Community School joined The White Horse Federation multi-academy trust in 2015. The trust is responsible for 32 schools across Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucester, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire.
