MELKSHAM Pet Food Bank is celebrating its first birthday this month, after starting up last December to help owners feed their pets during the cost-of-living crisis.
The food bank was launched by local resident Wendy Isaacs, who previously owned a pet care shop in Melksham for 13 years. Residents can make donations of pet food and items to designated drop-off points around the town that are then given out to pet owners in need.
“We are so proud to have had our first birthday on Monday 4th December and so grateful to everyone that’s helped keep us going through the year. All the donations, help and support has been amazing and without it we wouldn’t be here now,” says Wendy.
“We are happy to help anyone that has pets and is finding it hard to feed them and keep on top of everything else.
“You don’t need to be receiving benefits, or have a referral, all you need do is get in touch. We are here to help. Please, if you or anyone you know needs a bit of help, don’t hesitate to contact us. We do not judge, how can we? Everyone is finding it difficult this time, we just want to help.
“We are always in need of, and grateful for, any pet food or other pet items, we rely on donations to keep us going. Thank you so much.”
Items can be dropped off in the town centre at The Original Factory Shop and Chalkland Vets in Church Street. Other drop-off points can be found on the Melksham Pet Food Bank’s Facebook page.
