It was a shut out for the home team after an arm wrestle of a game at the Oakfields ground.
Frome could not break the home defence with early pressure, and Melksham’s growing impetus was not repaid until the 25th minute when fly half Callum Hurn stepped his way through defenders to get the first points of the game. Callum then slotted the posts to convert his own try; the only points in the first half.
Both teams failed to master the blustery conditions, the last pass failing to go to hand, until the Melksham backs worked the ball out to winger Callum Gillard who rode tackles to touch down out wide easing away from the visitors.
The game was secured by Aaron Brailey with a forwards push-over try in the last quarter.
