
MEMBERS of the Rotary Club welcomed visitors from Melksham’s twin town Guingamp in France for a Bank Holiday weekend packed full of activities.
Town Crier Peter Dauncey officially welcomed the 10 special guests from France at an event at the ArtHouse cafe in Melksham, which was the first of many activities planned.
For over 50 years, the Rotary Club of Melksham and the Rotary Club of Guingamp, France, have enjoyed friendships and worked together on projects such as the well building in Senegal.
President of the Rotary Club of Guingamp, Pierre Le Meur said, “I am looking forward to continuing to build friendships and maintain contact with the town, which has gone on for over 50 years.”
President of the Rotary Club of Melksham, Verly Ives, revealed that the schedule for the three-day visit included a visit to the Scarecrow Festival in Urchfont, time to explore the Wiltshire Museum in Devizes where chef Peter Vaughan from The Bistro at Vaughan’s Kitchen will take the group on a guided tour of the museum in both French and English, before laying on supper.
The Rotary Club said ‘au revoir’ for another year to their French visitors following a Sunday lunch.
