Melksham’s high injury tally still continued to affect the hosts against visitors Avondale. An even tussle in the first half, saw both teams battling for the first score as they swapped territorial advantage, with Melksham’s Alistair Smith booting a penalty.
Avondale responded with a quickly taken tap and go from a penalty infringement at a scrum, to finish the half 3 to 5.
On the restart of the second-half Avon Vale stepped up a gear, catching the hosts napping out wide with no defence, scoring a converted try. Two more tries followed in a similar vein after constant pressure to seal the visitors’ comfortable victory.
