KEEN runner, Marc Webb, is hoping injury doesn’t stop him from reaching the start line of the London Marathon this month as he runs for local charity, Wiltshire Mind.
Marc of Webb and King Kitchen & Bathroom Installation in Melksham will take on his first marathon in London on April 28th, raising money and awareness for mental health in Wiltshire.
Marc said, “My wife entered us both in the ballot last year where I got in but she didn’t. However, I unfortunately didn’t make it to the start line through injury at the last minute, which was hard to take after eight months of training. But as I deferred, I automatically got a place for this year. I’m now fully fit and can’t wait to do it this time.
“I’ve chosen Wiltshire Mind as it’s a local charity on which I’m keen to support. A representative of the charity spoke at Melksham parkrun and I thought that it would be great to raise awareness as well as raise some funds.
“I’ve been running on and off for years to keep fit and continue to challenge myself by entering various half marathons and cross country events. I have also recently joined Avon Valley Runners running club which is great.
“I can’t wait for the marathon, training is going really well, running 30 or so miles a week at the moment. I don’t really have a set time I want to achieve, my aim is to get to the start line fit and well and finish it with some fun on the way. I would be really happy with a finish time of between 4 to 4 and a half hours. And most of all to enjoy a couple of pints at the end of the race!”
