The Scouts will once again deliver festive cheer in Melksham this Christmas, as they have set up special post boxes to help deliver your Christmas and greeting cards around town.
Following the success of the past few years, with over 1,600 cards posted last year, the Melksham Scout Group will be running their own post service again this Christmas.
All you have to do is write the address clearly on the envelope and drop it into one of the special post boxes located in shops all across the town. If you are unsure of the address, please write a return address on the reverse.
The Scouts will help deliver your festive cards to any address within the Melksham, Bowerhill, or Berryfield areas. They do not deliver commercial post.
There is no need to attach a stamp, but you are asked to donate 25p per card, which is £1.40 cheaper than a first-class stamp. The last posting date is Thursday 12th December.
You can find a Scouts’ post box at the following Melksham locations: Tops Hair Salon & Beauty, 5 High Street; Scissors Hair Salon, 2A Churchill Avenue; Tourist Information Centre, 32 Church Street; The Melksham Card & News Centre, 4 Lowbourne; The Cobbler’s Bench, 18 Bath Road; Harmony Charity Shop, 24 High Street; and Oceans Traditional Fish & Chips, Unit 5 Verbena Court.
Group Scout leader Claire Neal said, “The children love delivering the post and we always receive lovely comments from people when they have received their post. It is brilliant for the community and also helps the elderly, who may have difficulty getting around to post their own Christmas greetings.”
