Local residents are being invited to help spread festive cheer and support a greener Christmas by donating new or good-condition toys for children across Melksham.
The Melksham Toy Appeal is now open for donations until 30th November, with drop-off points at Giffords Surgery and Melksham Town Hall.
Organisers are encouraging families to take the opportunity to reuse and recycle by passing on toys in excellent condition that are no longer played with. By donating pre-loved toys, residents can switch toys and reduce waste at a time of year when waste often increases.
Then, on Saturday 6th December, during the Melksham Christmas Lights Switch-On, Friends of Giffords Surgery will be hosting a festive fun event in the Council Chamber at Melksham Town Hall from 2pm to 6pm. Everyone will be welcome to come and take some toys for Christmas.
“This is a lovely way for our town to share some kindness this Christmas” said Sarah Williams-Martin, Chair of Friends of Giffords Surgery. “Every toy, big or small, will be gratefully received. Donating a pre-loved toy in great condition is also a brilliant way to recycle and cut down on waste. We’d love to see as many people as possible getting involved.”
The team behind the appeal is asking everyone in Melksham to get involved – whether by donating, volunteering, or coming along on 6th December to join the celebrations.

“Let’s make this Christmas brighter, kinder, and greener for children across Melksham!” added Sarah.
