MELKSHAM mixed martial arts star, Brad Scott, is preparing for his first ever UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) bout in the UK.
Brad who began his mixed martial arts career at Melksham’s Dragonslair now lives and trains in Arizona, USA, as he prepares for his UK fight. He has a professional career record of eight wins and two losses and will step into the octagon against Dutch fighter Michael Kuiper at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester on Saturday 26th October.
The event will be Brad’s first major show since officially becoming a UFC fighter in 2012. He rose to fame after making the welterweight final of the Ultimate Fighter – The Smashes last December, losing a thrilling contest to Australian Robert Whitaker in front of a television audience of millions.
Talking on his online blog Brad said, “I’m excited. It’ll be nice to have the fans cheering for me for once because it’s been a while since I’ve had that. I also feel a little bit of pressure because I don’t want to let the country down.
“I’ll probably be nervous all the way through to October 26th but I’m sure that after the first round, if it goes that far, I’ll wake up and I’ll let my hands go.
“There is no ifs or buts it will be an exciting fight. Loads of punches thrown, loads of blood, claret everywhere and I’m just hoping it’s in my favour. I am certainly hoping to finish him, I don’t want to go the distance. For this fight I have decided to go to train in America, I have been training at The MMA Lab in Phoenix, Arizona. It is certainly an experience to say the least; this week has been my induction week and I am just trying to get used to it here. I’m getting starstruck just seeing current UFC Lightweight Champion Benson Henderson and people like that walking around.”
Tickets for Brad’s fight in Manchester are available on www.eventim.co.uk and are priced between £83-£473.
