Melksham overcame league rivals Sutton Benger with a 29-15 home win.
Benger were first on the scoreboard with a penalty, Melksham responding a few minutes later when captain Nick Suter crossed the line for the first home team points. A tightly contested period of the game played out with a pushover try from the visitors to regain the lead.
Spotting the opportunity for a quick tap and go Callum Hurn started a move through the backs culminating in Dave Dyke scoring to ease away from the visitors. Melksham seemed to be taking a grip of the game when Scott Davis pounced to force his way over the line. Melksham making the most of their chances, went in again, dogged determination putting Ben Brown over the line for the bonus points score, Alistair Smith adding the conversion to finish the half 22-8.
Ten minutes into the restart Melksham, having kicked for territory, had a catch and drive from the lineout with Suter scoring his second try in the game, Smith adding the extras.
Undaunted Benger continued to press hard as they had done throughout the game and were rewarded with a converted pushover try, the final points in the game, closing with a home win 29-15.
