THINGS heated up at the Melksham Food Festival when three women showed up their male contestants in the chilli earing competition.
Hundreds of people were left in awe as they watched them survive 14 rounds of eye watering chillies – beating 13 contestants from around the globe!
In fact organisers, the Wiltshire Chilli Farm from Melksham, had not anticipated that they would go on so far and ran out of chilli variations calling it a tie. Drinks were banned and the chillies were up to four inches long – plus every bit had to be eaten.
One of the fire eating winners was Conservative Prospective Member of Parliament – Michelle Donelan.
After the challenge Michelle said, “My mouth is on fire but I like to see things through so there was no way I was going to give up! After speaking with the organisers of Melksham Food Bank, I decided to donate my £50 winnings to them.”
