TWO box office hits Downton Abbey and Elf- are coming to the Assembly Hall next month in the latest offering from Melksham Seniors’ Monday Movies.
Downton Abbey: A New Era is on Monday 5th December. The film continues the storyline from the hit TV series, with much of the original cast returning. Set in 1927, the film depicts a royal visit to the Crawley family’s stately home in Yorkshire.
As royal staff members descend on Downton, an assassin has also arrived and attempts to kill the monarch. The Crawleys and their servants are pitted against the royal entourage, including the queen’s lady-in-waiting, who has fallen out with the Crawley family, especially the Dowager Countess, over an inheritance issue. This is followed two weeks later by Elf on 19th December.
The popular American Christmas comedy stars Will Ferrell as the elf, a human raised by Santa’s elves. One Christmas Eve a long time ago, a baby crawled into Santa’s bag of toys… Raised as an elf, Buddy (Will Ferrell) grows into an adult three times larger than the biggest elf -and realises that he will never truly fit in at the North Pole. This holiday season, Buddy goes looking for his true place in the world – in New York City.
Buddy finds his workaholic father (James Caan) who’s on Santa’s “naughty” list, a new mother (Mary Steenburgen) and a 10-year-old brother who doesn’t believe in Santa Claus or elves. Here, now, Buddy discovers his destiny, to save Christmas for New York and the world!
For the screenings, doors open at 1.30pm and films start at 2.00p,
