Division One, Tuesday 8th October Melksham Reds 35-29 KSM
A great win for Melksham Reds in their second match of the season.
Shooters Hazel Cousins and Ruth Beaven gave Melksham a 4 goal start at the end of the 1st quarter.
It was a keenly fought match which saw goal defence Mel Rolph named as player of the match.
KSM upped the ante in the 3rd quarter, but centre Jane Andrew’s and wing attack Dawn Unwin’s passing into the circle set the tempo for Melksham to pull further ahead in the 4th and final quarter to finally win by six clear goals. A well deserved win for Melksham Reds.
Division 4, Tuesday 8th October Melksham Blacks 46-1 Corsham Third Team
For the first time in its 16 year history Melksham has two teams entered in the league for 2013/14.
The debut match of Melksham Blacks captained by Claire Webber could not of hoped for a better start to the season.
By half time due to great shooting by Cath Watts supported by Jemma Unwin and strong defence from both Jenny Whitehouse and Alice Ryan Lowes, Melksham were winning 25-0.
The third quarter saw even better play with Gemma Sawyer coming on as goal shooter and the support centre play and defence staying strong. The score was 41-1 going into the last quarter. Final score 46-1.
Gemma Sawyer got well deserved man of the match.
