A NEW Morrisons convenience store and a family pub restaurant is proposed on a site to the east of the town on the new housing development.
The site will be near to the Cranesbill Road roundabout just of Thyme road which runs from the A3102 Sandridge Common to Snowberry Lane.
The site will also have five small retail units, 16 flats above the retail units as well as car parking. The pub proposed is a Marstons who specialise in family meals.
The draft layout for the site also identifies the potential future location of a new doctors surgery which is t be the subject of a future planning application. A community consultation event detailing the plan including elevations and detailed designs was revealed at a consultation event at Assembly Hall on Wednesday 4th December.
Melksham Without cllr Terry Chivers said, “I think it is great news for people living in that area and the town. It will provide jobs and there is a need for an extra shop and family pub in the area.”
