MELKSHAM Town FC have begun their quest to re-build their squad following numerous resignations after a tough season, with new manager Rich Fey excited for the club’s future.
They have announced that Andy Sandell has committed to signing to the club for a season, praised for seeing out the end of last season under the temporary management of Luke Ballinger.
Rich Fey said, “After speaking to Andy to thank him for seeing out last season with Bally, I soon realised that he wanted to stay at the club. He has played here before on loan and is a great signing that will help the younger lads with his experience.”
Andy said, “I played for Melksham Town when I was a kid and I’m a local lad. After helping out at the end of last season, I witnessed the passion and desire of the young lads and I want to help them progress and move on through the leagues. Melksham Town FC is a sleeping giant and after speaking to the new management, it is very clear to see the ambition of the club and that they have the hunger and desire to progress.”
The new management have also signed Sam Hedges, Aidan Chainey and Matt Hurley.
Sam, a defender, was previously at Paulton Rovers last season before joining Street, Rich Fey’s previous club, in January.
Rich said, “Sam was great for me last season. He is 20 years old and has great potential. He has a great attitude and jumped at the chance to join Melksham Town.”
Sam commented, “This is a great club with the potential to do very well this season. I always remember the large support playing against Melksham and look forward to working with Feyer again.”
Aidan is a 24 year-old midfielder who was previously at Yeovil Town and Taunton Town.
Rich Fey said, “Aidan is another lad with a great attitude and wants to do well. He is reliable and honest who gives 110% and I know he will be a supporters’ favourite once the season starts.”
Aidan said, “The facilities and ambition of the club were a big draw for me and I can’t wait to get started.”
Matt is a midfielder who was previously at Bridgwater and Street.
Rich Fey said, “Matt has been with me at Street and Bridgwater. He is a quality midfielder with a great attitude. This is a great signing for the club!”
Matt commented, “Having been on the opposing side in recent years, I have always been impressed with the set up at the club, particularly the facilities at the InfiLED Arena. I can’t wait to get going and see what should be an exciting season for Melksham Town.”
Other players that have been announced include the commitment of Jordan Croad and Jack Baker who played for Melksham at the end of last season. Josh Bennett, a new signing from Street who was new manager Richard Fey’s player of the year last year, Phil Ormrod, also previously at Street, Callum Demkiv, who has come from Westbury United and Dan Dempsey a defender from Chipping Sodbury.
