STUDENTS at Melksham Oak School have been commended for the success of a sixth form rugby club set up last year.
The Mad Dog Rugby Academy was set up at the school last year with the help of former England captain Lewis Moody’s coaching company Mad Dog Sport.
Assistant headteacher Aidan Blowers said, “This is the first year the club has been running and it has gone tremendously well.
“Not only is it driving sporting excellence, but these young men and women are proving to be genuine role models for the school in their commitment, maturity and professionalism in all aspects of their training and education.
“There have been wins and losses, but genuinely the main triumph has been the ethos of respect which is so abundant in all they do. We really feel that this development is yet another element driving us towards being a great school.”
