MELKSHAM Lions’ Christmas Float will not be visiting the town during the evenings this year, the club has announced.
In a statement, Lions’ president Keith Mead said, “Each year since Melksham Lions Club was formed in 1974 we have in the run-up to Christmas taken a Christmas Float and Father Christmas around the town. The money collected going towards helping local causes in our community.
“It is with much regret that we must inform you that this year we are unable, due to lack of resources, to continue with the evening outings.
“Knowing that this is a much anticipated and looked forward to event we are however going to bring our Christmas Float, and if possible Father Christmas, to several local venues during the weekends leading up to Christmas.
“We would to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported us in the past and hope you will take the time to visit us at the various locations this Christmas.
“Once the exact locations and times have been finalized we will publish all the information in the Melksham News, on our website www.melkshamlions.org.uk and our Facebook page Melkshamlionsclub
