The local derby at Doric Park was a forwards orientated game in the first half with both sides battling for the upper hand.
This hard fought, but sportsman like contest, resulted in points from infringements, Trowbridge ahead at the half on penalties 6-3. The forwards battle continued at pace in the second half with replacements called on to reinforce the effort, including Scott Davis and Adam Pegg for Melksham. The visitors were next to strike with a well worked ball out to the centres, Phil Stone powering over for the first try of the game, Simon Foster adding the conversion.
With the momentum still in the balance Trowbridge closed the gap with a well struck penalty to be within one point. With all up for grabs Melksham worked the ball out wide for winger Rory Mulgrew to show his pace and score out wide past the defenders, Foster adding a difficult conversion.
Further substitutions for the visitors saw the debut for Ryan Evans joining the backs. At the close, the home team pegged back another penalty the game ending12-17 to Melksham.
