£32,890 in grants were awarded to community groups and organisations by Melksham Without Parish Council, at their recent annual council meeting on Monday 3rd April.
Grants were given out in the following categories; village halls; action groups; youth; support groups; community; community info; and transport.
Village Halls
The total of £16,300 was given out in total to; Bowerhill Village Hall Trust, £5,000; Shaw Hill Playing Field and Village Hall, £8,000; Berryfield Village Hall, £2,500; and Whitley Reading Rooms, £800.
Action Groups
£2,170 was awarded in total to; Bowerhill Residents Action Group, £450; Berryfield and Semington Road Action Group, £500; Community Action Whitley, £1,220.
Youth
£4,750 was given out in total to following youth groups; 1st Bowerhill Scout Group, £1,000; 4Youth (SouthWest) formerly Young Melksham, £2,750; 2385 (Melksham) Squadron ATC, £500; Shaw and Whitley Toddlers, £500.
Support Groups
£4,480 was given out in total to; Group Five, £500; Melksham PHAB Club, £350; Wiltshire Air Ambulance, £500; HELP Counselling Services, £180; Life Education Ltd Wiltshire, £300; Age UK Wiltshire, £300; Stepping Stones, £250; Wiltshire Citizens Advice, £500; Alzheimer’s Support, £300; Rainbow Day Care Melksham, £300; Meadowbook (Wiltshire) CIC, £500; Fearless Charity (formally Splitz Support Service), £500.
Community Groups
£900 was given out in total to; Melksham Food & River Festival, £400; Melksham Sixty Plus Club, £300; That Meeting Space, administered by GoodNews Church, £200.
Shaw & Whitley Connect, £250.
Clubs
£1,000 was given out in total to; AFC Melksham (disabled), £300; Melksham Gardeners’ Society, £200; Melksham Amateur Swimming Club, £340; Shaw and Whitley Friendship Club, £450; Shaw and Whitley Garden Club, £200; Melksham Womens’ Institute, £150; Wiltshire Youth Canoe Club (WYCC), £500; Whitley Cricket Club, £300.
Transport and Tourism
TransWilts CIC, £1,000.
Total Tourism grants were awarded to; Melksham Tourist Information Centre, £600.
